mySewnet™ Crafting Software Terms 101Updated 3 months ago

Crafting is fun, but if you're new to it, the terminology can be a little tricky. Here are some of the terms you might come across and what they mean!

  • Add a Border - Outline text or shapes. This function is essential for print-then-cut projects.
  • Attach - Keep a design together on the mat.
Software Instruction: Ungroup a design and select all elements, then select Attach. They will then be sent to the mat in the same position
  • Break out Holes - Use this function when you want to undo the Make a Hole operation and add the shape back.
  • Detach - Edit previously attached items independently
  • Group - Move or size multiple layers or shapes as one unit.
Software Instruction: Select all layers or shapes that you are wishing to move or resize. Select Group and you can now move or size them all at once and they will stay together.
  • Make a Hole - Cut one shape out of another.
  • Undo Hole - undo the Make a Hole function
  • Ungroup - Edit previously grouped items independently
  • Weld - Join layers together.
Software Instruction: Select all layers that you would like to permanently join together and select Weld. They will become the same color and operation. The only way to unweld is Undo.
